Generals Signings

by TJ Runhart

The Seaforth Generals are excited to announce and welcome everyone to our new team website!!!

GM TJ Runhart and the Coaching Staff have been working hard to comprise a roster that will bring hard fought and competitive hockey back to Seaforth again this year. " Last year- player numbers and injuries are what hurt us HUGE! We were in games every night till the boys got tired and the leads or the 1 or 2 goal  deficits blew up in our face." GM TJ Runhart had to say on last years overview.

We are excited to announce the signings of the following players. This season we will feature more local home grown talent from around Huron and Perth Counties. Seaforth natives Jack Buckley and last seasons Assistant Captain Scott Chisholm have both been tendered contracts.

Returning to a lead ship role for 2017-2018 is Kodee Keys. Kodee is a Dupo, Illinois native. Last season Keys was an integral part of the Gens line up notching 6 goals and 6 assists while dressing in 47 of the Gens 50 games.

Another key returning player is Cambridge, Ont. native Patrick Silva. He came to the Generals in November after his GMHL team folded and left him with nowhere to play. Patrick scored 8 goals while adding 14 assists in 27 regular season games.

"Patty came in and boosted our line up for sure. He is a big boy, he scored, he was physical and he brought some Junior Hockey experience- which we lacked," Runhart said about the 6 foot 2, 220 pounder.

Three early spring signings saw the Generals ink Dean De Souter of Belgium. Last season Dean posted 14 goals, 20 assists in 19 games for the Herentals HYC U19 program, as well Dean played in Antwerp Phantoms in the Senior Division 1.

"Dean is going to have a chance to put his full arsenal of talents on display for us in many different situations. He's a 20-year-old who wants to make it to that next level and we're going to do our best at getting him there," Coach Runhart had to say on the signing of De Souter.

The second signing is Ethan Scrimgeour, who is a 16-year-old from Londesborough Ont. The St. Anne's student played for Bob Zimmer and the Stratford Minor Midgets in the Alliance A/AA loop last season. Ethan ended the season 4th on the team in points.
"Ethan will be a bit of a surprise to some this season. His foot speed is there to play at this level, mixed with his quick release and shot--should catch a few goalies this season. He's a workhorse, getting bigger, stronger, and quicker with each passing day. He'll have a lot to prove this season," Runhart said about Scrimgeour.

The 3rd signee is Mark Miller. Mark comes to the Generals from Keller, Texas. Last season Miller suited up for Keller High School's Varsity team as well as the Texas Warriors Hockey Club. "Mark will be key for us this coming season and will develop into a great player! Mark is a great faceoff guy and will be  relied upon to kill penalties. He can skate with the best of them, and that will only provide himself with more and more opportunities to show what he can do."
